#WALKLIKEWOODIE
Camdenton LASER 3284 launched a global initiative to honor Dr. Woodie Flowers and to keep his ideals and core values alive and growing after his passing in late 2019. Dr. Flowers coined the two terms that are the ethos of FIRST robotics – Gracious Professionalism® and Coopertition®. LASER decided to honor Dr. Flowers after watching his celebration of Life as a team and talking about how he had affected students and the LASER team through FIRST. Members of 3284 had worked with Dr. Flowers as they developed the team’s code of ethics. Dr. Flowers had published the LASER 3284 Code of Ethics on his Mobius website. LASER 3284 posted on social media and asked teams to share pictures of their feet wearing Converse tennis shoes. Doing this on FRC kickoff day was a way to remind teams to start their 2020 season remembering to exhibit Gracious Professionalism throughout the season and to carry Dr. Flower’s core values with them in all that they do. Hundreds of teams posted photos on kickoff day to honor Dr. Flowers on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. #WalkLikeWoodie was a huge success and LASER 3284 will be making it an annual event as a way to honor Woodie.
