2023-24 Events

Summer Break 2024

This summer, LASER held their annual Mother-Daughter STEM Day as well as their annual STEAM Camp. Many of 3284's students aided in the help of lesson planning and assistance with teachers. All students Kindergarten-Third Grade are welcome to join LASER's STEAM Camp in June as well as all mothers and daughters at Mother-Daughter STEM Day, be sure to check LASER's Facebook and Instagram for updates on their next event. LASER also held multiple team bonding events like a float trip and day at Miner Mikes in Osage Beach. 

End of the Year Banquet
May 8, 2024

3284 always likes to celebrate the end of the year and end of a great season by hosting an End-of-Year banquet for students and families. This year celebration was held at the Camdenton Middle School where students enjoyed speeches from coaches, snacks, dinner, and the last few days with our senior buddies! We cannot wait to see what our 2024 seniors will become and hope to see them back as mentors for the 2024-25 season and beyond!

FIRST World Championship
April 17-20, 2024

LASER has spent the remaining weeks preparing the robot, refining speeches, and getting hyped up for this year's world championship. 3284 ended this year's championship in Rank 61 of the Curie division with a record of 2-8. LASER wished a goodbye to the senior class of 2024 and celebrated their accomplishments from the 2023-24 season on the way home and at the annual End-of-Year banquet. 3284 hopes all attendants of Worlds had a wonderful time and cannot wait to see everyone again, same time next year!

Oklahoma Regional
April 3-6, 2024

3284 competed during week 6 in the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma regional on April 3-6. LASER ended this regional in 14th place with a record of 7-5, surpassing their record from the St.Louis Regional. 3284 was the first round pick for team 9495 on the 6th alliance with 2nd round pick 3931. 3284 also received the Judges' Award. LASER was more than happy with the ending of the Oklahoma Regional and is ready for what this years 2024 World Championship has to hold.

St.Louis Regional
March 20-23, 2024

LASER competed in the week 4 St. Louis regional at St.Louis University. 3284 was a 2nd round pick for the 7th alliance with 6391 and 4256. LASER was honored to leave the St. Louis competition with the FIRST Impact Award and in 23rd place with a 7-8 record. 3284 was excited for all other teams who joined them at this regional and is even more excited to see what will come at the Oklahoma City Regional in Week 6!

Green County Regional
March 6-9, 2024

3284 competed in the week 2 green county regional. LASER was the first round pick of 5484 and was joined by 2972 in the 7th alliance. 3284 ended on match 13 of the semifinals and left with the "Industrial Design" award. LASER is happy for all winning teams and cannot wait to see everyone again at the St. Louis Regional! 

Taco and Trivia Night
February 17, 2024

LASER held their annual Taco and Trivia Night on February 17th with tacos and sides donated from El Patron and trivia themed for Hollywood. 3284 held a silent auction with prizes donated from the community and baked goods baked by LASER members. Teachers, alumni, and community members all joined us to celebrate by buying a table and raffle tickets for door prizes!

FRC Kickoff
January 6, 2024

The 2024 season has begun! LASER is so excited about this year's game, Crescendo. 3284 invited the rookie team 9428, from Springfield, Missouri to join our kickoff celebration and watch the game reveal. LASER enjoyed a big lunch and donuts before diving into the rules and how better to understand the game. 

Shop With a Cop 
December 2-16, 2023

3284 volunteered at this year's Shop with a Cop with the Camden County Police Department at the Camdenton Walmart to spread Christmas cheer to over 150 kids.

Team Christmas Party
December 8, 2023

To celebrate the soon to be beginning of the season, LASER hosted a Christmas party for all members to attend for Christmas cookie decorating, movie watching, and gift exchanges!

Christmas Tree Lot Set-up
November 20, 2023

3284's tree lot is officially up, come get a tree before they're gone! LASER members with help from other community members set up their annual Christmas tree lot in the Sip parking lot. Trees from 4ft-7ft are now up and ready for purchase. 

Team Friendsgiving
November 12, 2023

LASER continues to host team bonding events to bring students and their families closer together. For November, 3284 hosted a Friends-giving Potluck and movie night for all families of LASER's FRC team to enjoy.

2nd Annual Sponsor's Dinner
November 11, 2023

LASER was honored to host this year's 2nd annual Sponsor Dinner at the Bridal Cave Event Center. All current and new sponsors were invited to enjoy dinner provided by the butcher shop and a display presented by all LASER progressions. Three returning seniors gave speeches of their time with LASER and FIRST along with key note speaker, Mr Jackson, head coach.

Cowtown Throwdown
October 27-28, 2023

LASER competed in the annual Cowtown Throwdown offseason event at the Lee Summit High School. 3284 was the 3rd seat alliance and made it all the way to the finals, ending in 2nd place with teams 1710, 1730, and 5119. LASER had the chance to introduce FIRST to all new members through scouting and cheering with other teams. 

Lake Breeze Haunted House Volunteering
October 19-21, 2023

3284 along with 5906 and 5907 (LASER's FTC teams) volunteered for a local haunted house as characters for the "Silas Family Cave and Graveyard".

Team Bonding Bonfire
​October 13, 2023

LASER members enjoyed the first team bonding event of the season by having a bonfire, playing yard games, and eating dinner to celebrate the kickoff of the 2023-24 season.

Freshman Football Chain Holding
​Every Monday of September and October

3284 members and coaches volunteered every Monday during football season to hold the chains and markers for the Freshman and Junior Varsity games to raise money for the 2023-24 season. 

Homecoming Parade
October 6, 2023​

LASER members built a representation of FIRST in Show for the Camdenton Homecoming parade. All progressions of LASER were present with their 2023-24 game logo and name. 3284 members gave out buttons and stickers to Dogwood, Hawthorne, Oak Ridge, Middle School, and High School students to showcase FIRST robotics.

Macks Creek Showcase

To further the inclusion of other Lake Area schools, LASER hosted a showcase of the 2022-23 season robot and other parts of the team to gain interest in the club and hopefully a few new members. 

Food Truck Frenzy
September 30, 2023

LASER partnered with the Camdenton Soccer Team and local food trucks from the lake to put together the Camdenton Food Truck Frenzy. 3284 members answered questions, picked up trash, and of course enjoyed food and drinks from each food truck that joined us; Gorilla Grub, Lyn's Freeze Ice Cream, Shady's Shack, Barista Go Coffee.

Safety in the Shop Training
September 19, 2023

3284 held a "Safety in the Shop" training during practice on September 19th. All LASER members must pass the safety test with 100% accuracy to be able to enter the Work Shop at any point during the season.

First FRC Practice
​September 5, 2023

LASER's first practice was a success with over 20 new members. 3284 had 5 stations set up in all rooms showcasing each part of the team, such as, Safety, Build, Graphics, Impact, and Programming, by creating their own outreach events, learning about different tools in the shop, and the different characteristics of video editing, to earn a new appreciation for all aspects of the team and gain knowledge about how all members work together for the betterment of LASER. All new and former members were informed of the training and expectations students are expected to follow to become fully part of the team like First AID, AED, OSHA 10, and FIRST Equity and Diversity Training.

First FTC Practice + FTC Kickoff
​August 30, 2023 - September 9, 2023

To kickoff LASER FTC's season members of 3284 attended FTC's first meeting along with their kickoff practice to help coaches get organized and brainstorm ideas with teams for how to succeed in this years challenge. 3284 members spend the majority of their 1st semester mentoring and teaching all younger progressions to ensure a steady pipeline of members through the years. 

Freshman Parent Meeting

LASER hosted their first Parent Meeting of the 2023-24 season to welcome all new members to 3284's team. Parents and students were informed of LASER's code of conduct and all programs students will be expected to complete during second semester, such as, OSHA 10, CPR and FIRST AID certifications, and Equity and Diversity Training provided by FIRST.

First FIRST Flowers Delivery 
August 28, 2023

To kickoff the start of the school year, members from the impact and build side of 3284 delivered flower bouquets and handmade cards signed from the team to bring a smile to all faces in Arrowhead Nursing Home. LASER plans to keep this as a monthly event to continue to bring smiles to Arrowhead and other nursing homes near the Camdenton area all year.

Camdenton Meet the Teacher Night
August 17, 2023

To increase knowledge of FIRST, LASER set up a booth along with all other after school activities at Camdenton to showcase 3284's robot, impact team, and raise money through their partnership with Fresh Lemonade and Co.

Missouri State Fair
August 13, 2023

All LASER progressions were joined with Army Ants and Cobalt Colts to demonstrate FIRST to guests of the 122nd annual Missouri State Fair. FLL, FTC, and FRC robots were showcased along with a prize table, lego building station, and multiple STEM activities kids could build while learning about STEM and FIRST.

Shootout Buoy Painting
​August 12, 2023 

LASER lent a helping hand to their community by volunteering to paint buoys for the 35th annual shootout held at Captain Ron's over the August 27 through 28 weekend. 3284 brought not just high school members but also LASER FTC members and coaches to a fun filled buoy painting day!

FTC Camp
​August 7-10, 2023

To maintain a relationship with LASER's younger progressions, 3284 hosted a FTC Camp a few weeks before the first day of school to give all members a chance to see what the different parts of the team will be doing during the year. All members got a chance to see what building, programming, and impact will be like through the year while participating in team bonding activities and projects. This year all attendees had been in at least 2 years of FIRST Robotics!

Ha Ha Tonka Day
August 2, 2023

For the last team bonding event of the summer off season, LASER hosted a picnic at our local state park, Ha Ha Tonka, with all members who wanted to join. 3284 grilled hotdogs and hamburgers, played lots of fun games, and swam in the lake. 

Osage Fest
August 16, 2023

To continue the spread of FIRST in LASER's community, 3284 has decided to welcome the High Schools of Osage, Climax Springs, and Mack's Creek to join LASER to become the Lake Area Science and Engineering Robotics team.

Float Trip
​July 17, 2023

LASER strives to make a welcoming environment for all new members as well as those returning. To kickoff the summer off season, LASER hosted a float trip for all members who wanted to join. 3284 hopes to have many more successful team bonding events throughout the summer as well as the school season.

FRC Camp
June 20-22, 2023

To further LASER's outreach to the Camdenton R-lll School District, 3284 hosted a FRC camp, to show students interested in robotics all LASER has to offer. Students were shown over a 2 day period all aspects of 3284, such as, LASER's impact team, build team, programming team, and graphics team. 

Mother - Daughter STEM Day
​June 10, 2023

LASER hosted their 2nd annual Mother-Daughter STEM Day at the high school for all Mother-Daughter (or other girl) duos to participate in STEM over the summer. This year's theme was Racing into STEM where groups participated in making balloon cars, learning about different types of energy through solar ovens, and of course taking a break for a dance party!

STEAM Camp
​June 5-15, 2023

LASER hosted the annual STEAM summer camp for ages 1st through 6th grade interested in learning STEAM principles and about how STEAM works in our everyday lives. The lessons included energy storage and usage around the Lake of the Ozarks like Bagnell Dam, chemical reactions in baking and cooking with root-beer floats, edible paints, and mug cakes, along with tie dying STEAM Summer Camp shirts, and many other activities. 

Off Season Practice
Every Wednesday 

All through the summer to prepare for the up incoming season and any off season events LASER plans to attend, the build team along with impact members, met every Wednesday possible at the school to clean the shop, brainstorm ideas, fix up the 2022-23 season robot, and get a jump start on our LASER bulletin board to show off throughout the year.
