Camdenton R-III School District
Camdenton FIRST® LASER was founded in late 2009 and has received support and encouragement from our school, community, and beyond. LASER was originally founded with 21 high school team members and 3 adult mentors. The team has grown at an astounding rate, with a peak of one in every twelve students participating in one of the many LASER teams across all of the FIRST subdivisions.
Camdenton R-III School District, home of the Camdenton FIRST LASER teams, is located at Central Missouri’s beautiful Lake of the Ozarks. The Lake is a popular tourist destination, attracting people from around the globe. Due to the lack of industry in our region, many community members rely on the seasonal tourism provided by the Lake of the Ozark as a source of income. The Camdenton R-III School District has a proud and long-standing tradition of excellence in the state of Missouri and has received numerous local, state, and national awards of distinction for the achievements of our community, students, and teachers. The Camdenton R-III School District is honored to be one of 38 FIRST Class Schools worldwide and was the first public high school in Missouri to receive the Cognia National STEM Certification. Over 4,200 students attend one of Camdenton R-III's eight total schools.
Camdenton offers rigorous academic programs with a variety of options for each student including, but not limited to, communications, foreign languages, social studies, mathematics, science, art, music, business education, industrial technology, health, and physical education. Camdenton is one of few schools in Missouri which has the International Baccalaureate program. Other offerings include PLTW (Project Lead the Way) in grades K-12, and numerous Advanced Placement courses. Furthermore, Camdenton is the only school in Missouri to have all progressions and divisions of FIRST implemented. The district has been recognized numerous times for it outstanding band, choir, drama department and after school programs.
The mission and goal of the Camdenton FIRST® LASER team is to inspire the students of the Camdenton R-III School District, community, state, nation, and world to embrace the principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) through participation in the FIRST® progressions, FLL®, FTC®, & FRC®.
